AFTERCARE

CARE GUIDES

The leather of our shoes deserves care, just like our own skin.

We recommend a few basic steps to ensure your Brador shoes stand the test of time:

  1. Store your Brador shoes in the box provided at the time of purchase. This helps prevent scratches and marks. Keep your shoes in a clean, dry place away from moisture.
  2. Avoid exposing your shoes to heat sources for extended periods, as the natural colors used in their treatment may be affected.

3.   Natural leather footwear is not designed to be worn on the beach or in direct contact with seawater.

Salt water and sea salt can penetrate the leather and, once dry, leave residues and stains. They can also contribute to drying out and stiffening the leather, as well as altering its colour and finish.

Take Care Around Water and Humidity

Natural leather can be sensitive to water, especially when it features natural dyes, waxes and finishes.

Avoid heavy rain, puddles and prolonged exposure to water.

Do not wash the footwear under running water.

Do not put the shoes in a washing machine.

Do not use harsh detergents or products that are not specifically designed for leather.

Avoid leaving the footwear in very humid environments.

If the Shoes Get Wet

Gently dab away any excess water with a soft, dry cloth.

Allow the shoes to dry naturally at room temperature.

Keep them away from direct heat sources.

Do not use a hairdryer, radiator, heater or tumble dryer.

Do not apply creams or care products while the leather is still very wet.

The soft vegetable-tanned leather ages beautifully.

Vegetable tanning is a slow, traditional process that uses natural tannins from plant sources such as tree bark. It leaves the leather with a warm, natural hand and a surface that stays alive over time. Nothing is hidden under a heavy coating, so the leather can respond to the world around it.

With wear, it changes. The colour deepens, the surface softens and takes on a gentle sheen, and the small marks of daily life blend into a patina that belongs only to you. Sun, touch and time all leave their trace, and no two pairs end up looking the same.

That's why we see ageing as a feature, not a flaw. A little care keeps the leather supple: dry it naturally if it gets wet, keep it away from direct heat, and let it rest between wears. The rest is up to time.
